Dr Yasmin Docrat
Dr Docrat grew up the youngest of 4 children in Sunny Durban. Swimming and the ocean being a favorite weekend activity, encouraged by her Dad Muhammed who swam every day and was a successful businessman who served his clients with smiles, laughs and a lot of heart. Dr Docrat’s mum, a pharmacist, always served as a great inspiration for helping and healing others. She matriculated from Westville Girls High School where she was a Prefect and toastmaster and was always the youngest in her class.
She then went on to study Dentistry at UWC/Stellenbosh and qualified in 2008. She then completed her community service with the Military on Airforce Base Bloemspruit where she was the base Dentist and enjoyed that year thoroughly. Dr Docrat then began Private Practice in 2010 in Pietermaritzburg and in 2017 moved to a practice in Hilton where she still consults on a limited basis. Dr Docrat is at Prestige Dentistry Hillcrest on a full time basis. She opened Prestige Dentistry Hillcrest in order to serve a growing community with the skills she has acquired over her 13-year career.
In 2018 she completed her post graduate diploma in Interceptive Orthodontics. Learning does not stop for Dr Docrat and she regularly attends courses and webinars on different Dental topics. In 2020 Dr Docrat completed her Masters Of Business Administration Degree and she continues to learn every day. Dr Docrat loves the outdoors, hiking, swimming and spending time with family and her nieces and nephews.
Your Practice Manager/Momager:
Mrs Nasreen Docrat
or Nas as she is fondly called by most.
Nasreen is a retired Pharmacist who up to now is still very much involved in the world of Pharmacy. She is often called upon by colleagues and friends for advice and even to help out as a locum consultant Pharmacist in the Pharmaceutical Distribution sector.
Nasreen owned her own pharmacy close to home for many years. An ever devoted Mom, Wife and loving daughter, she divided her time between her patients and family. Her pharmacy was a community pharmacy and Nasreen was often called out late into the night when a neighbor or community member required medication for an ill child or loved one.
This sense of community is what Nasreen and her late husband Muhammed instilled in her 4 children, the youngest being “your dentist”.
